Position
Summary:
We are looking for a responsible custodian to maintain and protect our facilities.
The external and internal appearance of a building reflects on the occupants.
It is important for a custodian, or janitor, to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning and tidying the premises, as well as preventing vandalism.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep.
They will have great physical endurance to cover a large space.
A keen eye for detail and diligence are imperative in custodial maintenance jobs.
Essential Functions:
General cleaning of the building and keeping it maintained and in good condition.
Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors.
Cleaning and restock restrooms.
Ensure doors are locked after hours.
Clean up spills or stains with appropriate equipment.
Report any damages or suspicious activity to supervisors.
Collect and dispose of trash.
Replace liners when necessary.
Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
Perform other tasks requested by supervisors that are in the scope of the position.
Ability to manage your time efficiently.
Work well when supervisors are not present.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds of weight.
Handle basic janitorial, porter and cleaning work.
Basic math skills.
Able to work safely with a variety of cleaning supplies.
Able to us basic cleaning equipment.
Success Factors:
Must demonstrate excellent communication skill - Talking to others to convey information effectively.
Must demonstrate active listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Adhere to strict safety guidelines and procedure to OSHA and office standards.
Must be respectful and professional while working with fellow peers and/or supervisors.
Must be flexible and understand that your job duties may change from time to time and that you may be asked to help out in other areas that may not pertain the designated area.
Is willing to go above and beyond for the customer and think ahead.
