DutiesManagement - Responsible for the accounting and finance operations of Joni and Friends and the JAFFOversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectivesMaintains and enforces a well-documented systems of accounting policies and proceduresManages and makes recommendation for Cash Flow, Treasury investments, Liquidity, financial growth strategies, and Cash Reserve PolicySupervise and maintain a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the organization's reported financialsOversee Risk Management policies and controls for the organizationReview all legal contracts prior to authorizationServes on the JAFF, Investment committee and ensure proper compliance of investments per the Investment Policy StatementImplement and manage processes and procedures for international transactions in compliance with Federal and OFAC guidelinesEnsure the organization and its Foundation are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and international financial reporting standardsTransactionsEnsure the reconciliation process is complete and signed off by Development, Accounting, and CFOSupport month-end, quarterly, and year-end close processMaintain a system of controls over accounting transactionsReportingPrepares and presents monthly and quarterly financial reports and analysis for the International Board of Directors, including a summary of results and next quarter projectionsIssue timely and accurate financial statementsManages and works closely with Capin Crouse regarding accounting and tax itemsCoordinate the preparation of the organizational audited financials and Form 990Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of the organization's operations Monitor key financial and operating metricsManage the production of the annual budget and forecastsWorks closely with JAFF investment committee and investment advisor regarding JAFF investments and endowment.
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to managementProvide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiationsComplianceCoordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual auditMonitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenantsComply with local, state, and federal government reporting and tax filingsServe as a board member on the JAFF and investment committeeOther duties and projects as assigned by the Supervisor to support department and organizational needsQualificationsMust possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faithDesire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministryPreferred 10 years of accounting experience with progressive responsibility, Nonprofit accounting experience preferredBachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred in Accounting or FinanceRequired Certified Public Accountant designationGood interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to effectively organize and prioritize a wide range of daily tasks with varied deadlines are necessaryMust be detail oriented, committed to accuracy, a team player and self-starter who is flexible and able to work independentlyMust have a strong sense of confidentialityStrong general computer skills are necessary along with a competent, working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Sage IntaactUnderstanding of Christian ministry and specifically Joni and Friends is desirableCompensation for the exempt position is $215,000 - $225,000.
This is a hybrid position, working Mon/Tue/Thu in the Agoura Hills office and Wed/Fri remote.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
